Overview of INF Files
Microsoft Windows drivers must have an information (INF) file in order to be installed. An INF file is a text file that contains all the information that the Setup components need to install a driver.
Summary of INF Sections
This section describes the INF file sections in the same order that they generally appear in most device INF files.
INF DefaultInstall Section
An INF file's DefaultInstall section will be accessed if a user selects the "Install" menu item after right-clicking on the INF file name.
INF AddReg Directive
An AddReg directive references one or more INF-writer-defined sections used to modify or create registry information.
